Maps & Infographics
Maps, photographs and illustrated infographics help students visualise events, understand geography and follow the key stages of the story.
Historical Investigation
Students become young historians. Through activities such as investigating the story of a soldier buried at the Normandy American Cemetery, they use clues and historical information to discover an individual story behind the wider history.
History in Costume
For selected tours, I can welcome students in historical costume. Objects, clothing and storytelling help create a more immersive experience and bring the past to life.
What Teachers & Group Leaders Say
★★★★★
Thank you so much for this fascinating tour, which was perfectly tailored to our teenage group. You managed to connect with them and keep them engaged throughout this wonderful day, despite their tiredness. The places are an important part of the trip, but it’s the guides who bring them to life. Mission accomplished!
A Tour That Fits Your Educational Programme
A school trip to Normandy can be adapted to different levels of knowledge and educational objectives. Some students may be discovering the history of the Second World War and D-Day for the first time, while others may already have studied the subject in class.
Before the visit, we can discuss what your students have already learned and what you would like them to understand during their time in Normandy. This allows me to adapt the historical context, vocabulary and level of detail.
The aim is not simply to give students dates and facts, but to help them understand the people behind the history, the choices they faced and the events that took place on the sites they are visiting.
Preparing Your School Visit
Before your visit, I can work with teachers and group leaders to understand the students’ needs and prepare a programme that fits naturally into their trip to Normandy. Depending on your itinerary, the tour can focus on D-Day and the Second World War or include other aspects of Normandy’s history and heritage.
Practical considerations are also important when travelling with a school group. The programme can take into account journey times, breaks, the students’ pace and the time available at each site, helping to create a balanced day that remains engaging from beginning to end.
